Suzuki Cultus Crescent Awd/Fwd

So while replacing the clutch I found a short rod aprox 8mm diameter sticking out of the gearbox that (with a bit of experimenting) I found disengages the rear drive shaft! with a bit of the ol kiwi ingenuity I will sort out a solenoid so I can change Awd Fwd (4wd 2wd) with the push of a button. was just wondering if any one else has already done something similar! vehicle same as NZ Baleno! but full time4WD!

BECAUSE . as a 2wd .it's

Cheaper on fuel
Cheaper on tyres
Better performance

sgrants .
just ignore the other 2 posters.
They clearly don't understand what 'kiwi ingenuity" is.

sgrants, that sounds like a greta idea!

The solenoid might be a bit tricky, though.

BUT, let us know how you get on.

I wonder if it is actually any cheaper on fuel - you've still got the disconnected drivetrain creating drag.

Hehehe

'cultus' sounds rude.

In this case, I would rather do something that's more productive, rather than spend hours wasting time. Like already mentioned, even if you achieve "on demand 2wd/4wd", the engine still needs to pull all that dead weight around, so performance and economy increase will be minimal. Not to mention, less traction = worse handling.
