Obviously you know of Graeme White from Enford spares (I have never met anyone more an authority of all things English & Ford & good old Geoff Walker of Restospares, a certified unadulterated Ford aficionado ready with all things rubber & plastic

The 3.9:1 was the GT ratio for the Australian Mk1 Cortinas but was standard in the 1500cc NZ cars.

A 3.5:1 diff head out of a Mk2 Escort Sport will fit straight into your Mk1 Cortina housing. All you need to do is change the flange the driveshaft bolts to. The 3.5:1 diff heads command good money though. Expect to pay in excess of $300

someearly capri,s had 3.7,s. most Cortina,s were 3.9,escort sport mk2 3.5 . when i worked for ford we were retrofitting 3.5,s into Escort ghia,s and anything with a 1600 engine! about half a doz different flanges but they are all interchangable!hope this helps!

Wouldn't mind a 3.9 if anyone got a spare. Cheers.
