Want manual not auto I think. . Which engine better, 1.8 or 2l. Heard one was better than other and cant find info on net. CHEERS!

The ones you'll find here will be 1.6 or 2l.

I'm not sure which is more reliable but the 1.6 is very underpowered for that size car

I've driven a 2litre one as a rental car. Was quite a good car.

I would probably go for the larger engine, but unlike most on here I am no expert.

2.5 turbo are the best

I used to work for a rental car company that had heaps of focus's. They were all 2 litre and boy oh boy could they haul ass! I would prefer the 2L, enough power when needed and economical when driven conservatively.

100 hp versus 130 hp

the main thing about Ford passenger 4 cylinders is that they by & large are tuned for torque rather that hi RPM power

the Fiesta recieved a 150 HP duratec, & the sporty Focus had a Zetec making 170 hp (instead of the lighter 130 hp Duratec)

If you want economy the 1.6 manual is the one - I average 7litres per 100km in mine for commuting into Wellington, and low 6's on a trip driving between 100 and 110. If you use the gearbox and their handling capability they are great drive. Also have 150,000km cambelt intervals, which must be about the best there is.

Have a 2L Focus at work (auto not manual) and it can definitely haul ass!

This is good to hear as I'm looking at getting a 2L auto Focus wagon later this year :)
