own a 2002 manual 5 litre XR8, 10 months ago crank snaped pulling 250kph.huge damage, saved heads and cam, anyway got a new engine built, 347 stroker, 560 lift roller can, comp cam roller rockers, dart alloy heads, NZV8 steel 10lb flywheel and twinplate clutch, TKO 600 close ratio tremec gearbox, thing that is going to hold it back is the factory intake manifold and 70mm throttle body, TS50 falcon injection would be ideal, never get one of those.so making 12mm plate alloy intake manifold, and using two toyota black top throttle bodys, 8 trumpets, one for each bank on the V8, a throttle positioning switch, factory injectors and computor with flash tuner.sounds good to me, what do you petrol heads think,

"two toyota black top throttle bodys"!So you are using something designed for a 1600 cc engine! ok so two of them, gets you something that works well on a 3200 cc engine.
I'm picking your near enough to 5700 cc engine is going to be a little asmatic with them fitted!

Can you put up a photo! Sounds an awesome idea, but I think you will shift less air than the stock Ford setup.

The Ford EFI is pretty ugly, but you can get upgraded manifolds from the likes of Edelbrock to make it flow better.

so how big is the toyota throttle body! approx 40mm i spose, i dont know, each trumpet is feedn 1 cylinder, and using XR8 injector, and think 8 trumpets will flow better than th factory 70mm XR8 single body, i could be wrong,

bamz1, May 7, 12:30am
had set 45mm down drafts on 351 cleveland, even the45s were to big for that motor

richardmayes, May 7, 12:46am
You need to know what maximum revs the 347 V8 and the little Toyota engines are designed to go up to, to make this calculation properly.

And a lot of single-throttle V8s are inflicted with very VERY bad inlet manifold designs.

OP: This man has a suggestion for you:

A 70mm t/b will flow around 700cfm, 80mm t/b around 965cfm & a 90mm t/b around 1170cfm. I run an 80mm on mine.

guider1, May 7, 3:20am
Just a question. why do you want more air flow but no more fuel! The stock injector is (i think) around 28lb or 286cc which is good enough for around 450hp at the flywheel, a set of 330cc will be enough for 510hp at the flywheel. I run 42lb (428cc) in mine which is good for 670hp at the flywheel but will probably go up to a set of 660cc so it has 1000hp capabilities. but i'll still use the same 80mm t/b.

bamz1, May 7, 5:00am
have you seen a stock XR8 nmanifold, a Ford Falcon ,TS50 manifold would be ideal, but never get one, dont know injector size till gets on dyno

bamz1, May 7, 5:05am
what engine you runing with 80mm t/b guider1, id like 450 plus hp

bamz1, May 7, 5:54am
.l

347 windsor.

nice intake.so what you car you runing with this engine setup, 450plus hp be nice if I could get it

guider1, May 8, 11:55pm
Mustang. My brothers unstroked 304 Commodore made 332rwhp on Torque Performance dyno with 11.6:1 compression, .555" mechanical cam, Group A heads & twin throttlebody intake. That's running 400cc injectors. That motor is around the 450hp, so you should be there somewhere i'd say.

RTP is long gone fish. Dave Mills started RTP then sold it to a guy named Brett who didn't know jack & it went down the gurgler. The 347 in the Mustang has a 6400 rev limiter which is plenty because they're bad for creating windage. If I was to build one i'd only go 331 cubes. much better to rev & better rod angle. A young guy in Puke had a turbo'd 331 in an EB2 which cranked out 500+rwhp on the dyno.

dave mills has just built engine, engine and falcon there now.so hes doing the injection

bamz1, May 9, 1:56am
my 347 has Dart pro1 alloy heads.hope they good

guider1, May 9, 2:11am
I know Millsy very well, worked for him a loooong time ago & in fact going there monday to pay him for a tow he did so will see your car there. Yep, nothing wrong with Pro-1's, friends blown chev has them. Mine has Canfield alloys on it, full roller valve train, SVO R-302 block, Eagle 4340 crank & H-beam rods, Probe forged pistons, full MSD, Moroso sump, Edelbrock intake, Paxton fuel system, Hedman step headers etc.

bamz1, May 9, 2:22am
known him for years too, hes knows how to build a ford, and I know how to break them

Trick Flow Specialties "Box R" would be best for you, coupled with a TFS 80mm TB. Would be a lot easier. Although your idea sounds pretty cool If that's the path you want to go down. the Box R would also let you keep factory ECU and tune it with a J3 chip from TI Performance, or a Moates Quarter Horse.

fordguy17, May 9, 5:44am
Oh and Bamz, If you are wanting to rid your self of that 70mm TB, check out my classified. I'm after one If it's the Tickford 70mm. Already have one paired up with my Trick Flow goodies but I love spares!

What fuel does your brother use with 11.6:1 compression!

girlracer2005, May 10, 6:49am
the black top 4a-ge has a 8500 rpm redline the bule top 4a-ge had the 7500 redline

guider1, May 11, 10:49am
Believe it or not (& not many do) it was tuned by Torque Perf to run on 98, Av makes it flood up & run like crap.
