-- minor burns I think.
The great danger of using alcohol fuel.
Flames can't be seen when burning on skin and clothing.

funny I could see yellow flames on my TV. Does tour set need adjusting! Have you ever seen an alcohol fire!

kingfisher21, May 2, 7:27am
They don't use alcohol based fuel, it's pump gas, E85 ethanol.

bill-robinson, May 2, 7:30am
pray tell us then, What is ethanol!

the first guy with the fir extingusier didint seem to be in much of a hurry did he

rsr72, May 2, 7:36am
It's Alcohol-based fuel.
He was beating at his clothes as he ran and one couldn't see flames on him.

If it's the same stuff they use in the Sprintcars, Modifieds, Super Saloons etc in Speedway then yes you can see the big fires, the small ones are invisible and can only be seen by the heat blur you get with every fire.unless it's on you, then you can feel it!

rsr72, May 2, 10:59am
No I haven't as it hasn't been allowed on our tracks, (Speedway excepted), during my years of race involvement, but I have seen the effects of it over years of coverage of Indianapolis accidents and flare-ups in their pits. V8's use E85 which may have slightly more obvious flames than pure alcohol.
Reindler was clearly beating at fire as he tried to get his gloves off and being rolled on the ground yet visible flames were not evident on the video .
