Hi, Ive noticed a few of these 2004,2005 yr coming onto Trademe for sale recently. any reason why people would be getting rid of these cars! Some of them have really low mileage too circa 40-50,000K. Also does anyone recall what they cost to buy new!

A large number of small cars are used as shopping baskets and don't end up doing a lot of distance - that kind of mileage isn't out of the ordinary.
They weren't a very expensive car new, but that often doesn't have a lot to do with used prices.

50,000k after 5 years isnt that low. Its still 10,000km per year or 200 per week.

I think they usually sold for significantly cheaper than that (this is typical for a lot of manufacturers)
