i have little canister with brush but the paint is getting too thick and stringy. is there something i can dilute it with!

A small amount of proper thinners should work. But its a sign that it is on its way out.

Its laquer (lasts a long time) so needs to be thinned with laquer,two way, or universal thinners,, any thing else will ruin it.
