Let's face it, there are times we think we got a great deal on a new car, only to have missed an even better one later.

Fiat Panda
Bought for $600, did 70'000km in it averaging around 5l/100km.
Replaced plugs, filters oil and a $30 cambelt in the time I had it.
Sold it for $1800.

Thats seriously cheap motoring!

1959 Humber 80
Bought with a stuffed clutch from my uncle for $35.00 in 1976. I learnt to drive in it as did my younger sister. After five years of abuse it was mostly rust, had no 1st or reverse gears. I sold it to a wreaker for $45.00, this is the only car I have made money on in 35 years of driving!

Bought my car in Hamilton, and saved $9000 (yes, NINE Grand) on an identical model (with higher kms) that was on a car yard in Hawkes Bay.

I got paid $9.20 (change of ownership was paid for me, just so he was totally sure the car was going away) for taking away a KE20 Corolla, that I then used as my daily commuter for six months.Nice little car, other than the overheating, and the dreadful brakes :-)

i got one of those pooludes a while ago for $200 with a snapped cam belt, threw in another motor and it was good to go. trynna sell it now for $1500 cause I don't like it lol. I'd say the best deal I've had (other than my free cars) would be a accord i saw sitting in someones driveway that I got for $50. A little bit of work later it was looking & going pretty mint, till some ass dropped a garage door on it

About7 years ago I bought a Mercedes 350SL (Late 70's model) for $1500. Complete with the hardtop. Reg on hold & seemed like an OK runner.
Someone had started to 'restore' it & removed the L/front guard & seats.
I reassembled it, gave it a quick polish & sold it for $6500 in think.

dr.doolittle, Mar 17, 2:22am
Oh, I forgot, my Caddy for $7k, with wof & reg.

There's been so many 'deals' I've lost track .

Made the opening bid of $8000 on a 1970 351 sportroof mustang at Turners Classic auction, thinking I was doing them a favour to get the auction started.Everyone else was asleep or had blown their stash (it was late in the auction) and I ended up owning it as the only bidder. It was a bit rough but I enjoyed it for a couple of years and sold it for a handy amount more than I had paid having spent nothing on it. But not as much as I would have got if I'd kept it until now!

mantagsi, Mar 17, 7:04am
Bought a 1991 ford laser for $200 a few years back that had 340,000kms on the clock. Put a new clutch in which set me back about $120 odd, and got 80,000km of super reliable motoring with next to no maintenance. Gave it away to my flatmate who clocked another 45,000 before he killed its CV joints, and he got $150 for it! (we both do a huge amount of long distance driving). Couldn't get over how reliable it was! got an A33 cefiro/maxima, i like it but by god that car has made me pay dearly, not worth selling now :S

cuda.340, Mar 17, 7:35am
