Corolla help

Hey, so my mate is looking at buying a corolla hatch roughly 2004 or newer.
What i'm wondering is what the difference is between the corolla, allex, runx, auris etc and which you'd recommend out of these, probably performance wise.
I found that 1.8L vvtli is the engine to go for!
Thanks

The Runx,Allex ,and NZ new Corollas are pretty much all the same, only difference are grilles and taillites. The Runx and Allex come in 1.5,1.8 sized engines. The Auris is a later shape Corolla. For everyday driving day out day in the 1.8 1zz-fe(vvti) is the pick, the 2zz-ge(vvtli) likes lots of revs and gets tiring after a while.Ihave a Fielder(Corolla wagon) 1.8S(same as Runx/allex but a wagon),done 215kms now, very happy with it,has been totally reliable and updating with a new shape Fielder 1.8S. Hope it will be just as good.

Buy a Blade master G if you are after performance!

+1 Better value than the Mk5 R32 as well IMO.

Jazz -did you not read, they didnt ask about a VW.They asked about a Corolla,no need to bring in a slanging match about Euro trash.

R32's are over rated. No quicker or better handling than my old Clio 172 in the real world, and they get terrible economy.

I was referencing a VW post already in the thread.
