i have no way of getting around places that i need to go, is it worth it risking to buy a cheap de regestered scooter to drive around for a while!

Just get a mountain bike with one a them chinese motors on it. I think your allowed 2kw without a licence., but you can get much bigger motors for them and nobody is going to know. Make sure you've got good brakes but.

A power assisted cycle can be up to 300 watts, that's 0.3kw
