Turns over but wont start sorry

babyonboardnz, Apr 6, 8:04pm
some times if it does not have enough power it will crank but not have enough jucie for the electrics to lite up the plugs

tekaholics, Apr 6, 8:05pm
does it mean its the battery! Even though I have been jump starting from my car

tonyrockyhorror, Apr 6, 8:28pm
If it won't start when being jump started either, it's not the battery.
Fuel, compression & ignition. That's what is needed.

Have you checked for ignition!

A bit of history would help too. When was it definitely last running for a start.

I'm only concerned that gsx's are 6v not 12v!

Should be 12v. Only the very old stuff was 6v.
Old fuel, blocked fuel filter, blocked tank outlet, flooded, crook sparkplugs, buggered ignition pack, imobiliser, leads, damn near could be anything. Start with "have I got fuel at the carbs" followed by "have I got spark at the plugs"

12 v but when runing most cars- bikes run around 14.4v so enough to charge and run every thing, what are your jumper leads like, i have seen some that when cut apart the wire in side is only 8 amp wire and they are hot to touch means that only 8v-11v is getting through to the battery how flat is the bike battry

tonyrockyhorror, Apr 6, 9:09pm
GSX-R. But even the GS (before GSX) were 12V.

have you got the stand down!they have a kill switch

tonyrockyhorror, Apr 6, 9:48pm
Only if in gear and without the clutch disengaged, and that interlock prevents the starter from operating and fron you riding off with the stand down. But the starter is operating so if it hasn't fallen off the stand it's not in gear. It's just not starting.

Back to basics; does it have compression, spark, fuel!

Check the plugs, if they're wet you're getting no spark.

How long has it been sitting!
It may be in need of a carb clean.

It's very common for the GSX-R250 to have dry solder joints in the CDI unit causing it to not run, a G74A Bandit unit may fit.
