i am wondering if anyone can help. Today, out of the blue the battery light came on in my MPV (battery is only 8 months old) and the engine started making a funny sound, Then it stopped and drove normally for a while then did the same thing. I am just wondering about possible explanations. It starts ok etc.
1. Lift the bonnet. 2. What do the drive belts look like, and are there any missing!

Faulty alternator pulley it they are of the clutch type.

OK. There is another small drive belt on the other side of the engine (above the bellhousing), which drives the water pump.
