Escape while you can .

IIRC some of those had problems with brushes sticking inside the alternators, consult an auto sparky and prepare for a reasonable sized bill, theres a bit of labour involved in getting the alternator off and on again.Congrats on getting an Escape, contrary to the above comments they're not a bad vehicle, not much goes wrong with them overall.Much more fun to drive and loads more grunt than the likes of a CRV or RAV4, enjoy.

Have you ever done head gaskets on a V6 or a transmission!

Debatable.

Whats debatable! They urinate all over those two in terms of performance. They are not any harder to work on than anything else with an east west V6 in it.

They go OK (but so do 2.4 litre CRVs and RAVs), however the V6 is pretty sluggish for a . V6 (although, facelift models were much better). They are OK to work on when it comes to servicing, but they have two sets of timing chains, and is very time consuming to take the front end and heads off. Something that needs to come off happens to be attached to something else and so on. I needed a 4 metre X 1 metre bench to lay out all the parts that had to come off, just to remove the heads. But, that was just one job anyway.

Sorry, you may like them, but I don't.

We thought battery light was on in ours but it was actually the radiator light ( looks very similar) had faulty thermostat
