Snitch GPS Impounded Car on Speeding Joyride

kevymtnz, Apr 17, 10:55pm
this girl should take this to court

When she got to work on Monday, she checked her Snitch GPS tracker to see where her $12,000 Nissan Silvia had been taken.
To her surprise, the tracker showed it had been to the yard, but had then been taken out again.

It's theft of a motorvehicle and she should pursue it with Police and force them to investigate and prosecute.

elect70, Apr 18, 1:47am
^^^ fat chancethey will say you still haveyour carin 1 piece ,.take it up with impound yard ,but theywill tell her tof*&#^ off.

n1smo_gtir, Apr 18, 3:16am
sue the impound yard! the evidence is there. apply for release of vehicle due to impound yard using it for illegal purposes. i'm surprised the GPS tracking system offered by snitch does not have a remote immobiliser or remote shut off function that even a $150 unit on trademe offers.

whqqsh, Apr 18, 3:53am
they should lose their contract with the cops IMO

rsr72, Apr 18, 4:57am
The yard's 'chasing an intruder' excuse was a cracker!

wrxnz1, Apr 18, 5:16am
the cops wont do anything years ago my m8 had his supercharged levin inponded the tow company had to pick it up from the cop station next thing we know a friend txts and asks why we were doing burnouts outside his house in the levin cops didnt do anything about it and tow company denied it even tho they admited it was driven to there yard not towed m8 still had to pay a towing fee lol

socram, Apr 18, 5:52am
So, if you have any sort of immobiliser/kill switch, mechanical or electronic, it won't stop them towing, but it will stop them from driving it.

A bit like the old prison service adage.Cameras on the fence merely show you the arse of the escapee.Doesn't stop them getting over the fence though.

a.woodrow, Apr 18, 5:58am
True, but you can track and recover your car if it is stolen using the gps. Assuming that the thieves don't remove it and biff it away

moosie_21, Apr 18, 6:15am
Sue them for all they're worth. Take them to court, she has enough evidence.

wrong2, Apr 18, 6:44am
the excuse the impound yard gave was just laughable

i suppose they had to say something, but damn if they didnt make it look even more obvious

p_rock, Apr 18, 6:47am
Hardcase. Good thing she had gps tracking. I wonder how many times this has happened.

fordcrzy, Apr 18, 6:53am
they should have their contract torn up and they guys on shift that night charged.
it is OBVIOUS that they took it for a joyride.

"left on the back of the truck with the ignition on" what a load of BS.

dezzie, Apr 18, 6:54am
lol at the car yards excuse, so umm, legally a truck is only meant to go 90 k, so they were well over the speed limit for that as well, let alone it being in a 50 k area.doesn't that flick them over into "dangerous driving" instead of just a speeding ticket!

morrisman1, Apr 18, 6:58am
Even better would be if the owner went to the location and busted them red handed.

n1smo_gtir, Apr 18, 11:05am
our soft knob p1gs wouldn't do anything about it.

hijacka, Apr 18, 11:44am
Still doesn't add up does it. GPS tracker wouldn't have known the key to be switch on red light but would have known once the car was started and sounded the ''power alarm'' due to the voltage drop on startup. Really someones got to own up to it.

Still doesn't add up does it.There are many holes in this story. One is that the GPS tracker wouldn't have known the key to be switch on red light but would have known once the car was started and sounded the ''power alarm'' due to the voltage drop on startup. Really someones got to own up to it and the police should investigate based on evidence

sounds like a good one for campbell live

thejazzpianoma, Apr 18, 8:36pm
Unless the media keep pushing it the Police will just do another one of their famous "Ignore and cover up" maneuvers. The whole road Policing situation (actually the whole Policing situation) needs a sort out.

As it stands you have incompetence partnered with incompetence (Towies + Police). This is simply not acceptable when people expensive property is being taken care of. Especially as Police and Towies deal with the vehicles of innocent third party's as well, not that only innocent peoples vehicles should be shown respect.

+1 there. Easier to cover ip. Saves paper work. Less paperwork = more quotas met= more money in coffer= happy bosses!
