Hilux from Auckland to Blenheim

shandiex, May 20, 12:27am
Anyone know of a cheap option on getting one here to Blenheim next week. Cheers

net_oz, May 20, 2:00am
Fly up drive it back is the obvious way. If it makes it to wellington in one piece then it should be a good one.

Drive it to wellington and stick an outboard on the tailgate.just make sure the cab's watertight

Put me & the wife up in a local motel for a week & you get your driver/ mechanic & delivery all in 1, maybe even the gas as well, but not the ferry fee's.

mrfxit, May 20, 2:47am
Either way it's going to cost you the best part of a grand to do it because somebody's going to have to do a return trip.
Ferrys going to cost as much as the full trip gas & easily looking at $150 /$200 gas
Food & stops for driver rest = full day trip /overnight wait in Welly, then another few hours down south

you only need to drive to welly you can send unaccompanied

No,it wont cost a grand.i got a station wagon from Christchurch to Auckland , it cost $525.give Toll a ring and get a quote, they have covered in wagons and specialise in shipping cars.

You can fly to Auckland for under $100 easy. Get the seller/dealer to pick you up at airport. If its a dealer, get them to fill the tank. Should get most of the way on one tank! Ferry $170 ish for vehicle and adult if you get a cheap rate, otherwise $200.

You can't get from Blenheim to Auckland for less than $150. And those flights probably wont suit as you need to be in Auckland first thing to be able to get to the last ferry crossing in time which is 630pm.
Ive done it twice, auckland - chch. One hell of a long day but worth it.
But you can do it for under $500 if the OP gets his flights early enough and makes the ferry.

My bad, main centres to Auckland cheap, anywhere else is moonbeams.

mrfxit, May 20, 4:43am
Yep I do agree with the cheaper thoughts but theres a lot of "IF's" to work out.
Basically anywhere from about $350 to $1000.
Cheapest if all the cheap options work out correctly.
Dearest if it gets a bit pear shaped (fuel/ time/flights /ferry/food/ etc) but no break downs, (maybe)

shandiex, May 20, 6:22am
Thanks I will check out Toll. Flying up is not a option as airfares from here are not cheap, so could be cheaper to bring it down via Jeffs. Am limited to certain days next week as well due to work commitments. Thankyou OP for your suggestions

Get a ride to Picton & then cross on the ferry & then fly up to Auckland & drive back. I flew from Auckland to ChCh & drove a 76 VW back up to Auckland . total cast $580 !

Find someone that wants a car taken to Auckland. Maybe contact vehicle rental companies.

Wow! Anyone done this before! Is it actually free or is it full of barbs, hooks and other arse biters in the fine print.

Real common for campervan relocation's. You get 3 to 5 days to travel back to a major center. They get their vehicle where they want it and don't have to pay freight,: or wages, accommodation, and fuel. Saves them a grand in costs. You just have to be going in the right direction to suit them
