i dont think for a 2nd that the car salesman would of done it on purpose, you asked for 3 months rego you got 3 months rego.next time maybe go "i expect you to provide a additional 3 months rego from the expiry date of the current rego" and then theres no mis communication

lol, thanks for your replies. I am not stressing about it. The deal was good. I guess all I wanted to know how common the practice was and whether the benefit to the dealer is actually worth the process,
It seems to me that they risk taking the shine off a deal and possibily alienating a future repeat customer for the sake of a few dollars. Yes, it might seem petty to haggle over a few dollars, but it also seems petty that the car yard would put itself in the position where this can occur. They spend $10,000's in advertising, and should know that $1,000's of thaty gets easily undone by just 1 unhappy customer. It's a risk I wouldn't be prepared to take in business, so I wonder if it's worth the savings to them in the bigger picture!
In my case it's only 3 weeks, but I wonder if it had 2 Months and 3 weeks left and their offer to "put 3 months on it" resulted in adding 1 week!

Hey when I bought my Clio, the cheeky dealer claimed it had a new WOF. It had 6 months to go, except I forgot that since it was sub six years old it got yearly WOF's!
