NZ's most desireable Ford for sale?

yeahm8, Jul 13, 4:36am
Certainly a nice car but they are only worth what someone is willing to pay.

grangies, Jul 13, 4:55am
It is so mint that you couldn't drive it anywhere.

Cars like that have become, collectors items like artwork.

chris_051, Jul 13, 4:56am
The fastest 4 door in the world back in 72, just beating the Mercedes 300sel 6.3 V8. Dream garage would have both.

rob_man, Jul 13, 4:57am
I wouldn't mind owning one but not that one, the history and condition bring a burden of responsibility that I wouldn't want to carry. I'd rather have one that I could give a few loud dollars without having to worry too much about breaking it.

fordcrzy, Jul 13, 4:58am
as much as i like the car i can't but help thinking you could build one hell of a nice DYNACORN MUSTANG for that.mmmnice injected motor with all the goodies stuffed into a brand new 67 mustang fastback shell.

phillip.weston, Jul 13, 6:09am
nice car for sure. but $495,000. really! I don't see the half a mil value in it at all. I'm sure this would have been a $49,500 car just a few years ago.

chris_051, Jul 13, 6:24am
I said fastest not quickest, Merc was 221kmh, Wheels managed 225kmh in the GTHO back in the day.
Add a 911 RS to that while ya at it.

chris_051, Jul 13, 6:45am
edit, 144mph from the xy in 1971, which is 230kmh.

johnf_456, Jul 13, 6:56am
I agree yes its special but I would not say half a million reminds me of that the 1 million dollar master craftsman Camaro.

compchick, Jul 13, 7:22am
They're going for close to that in Aus between $300,000AUD (sold) and $425,000.
"A Falcon XY GTHO Phase III was sold at by Bonhams & Goodmans at auction for A$683,650 in March 2007. The car had just 40,000 km on the clock. The sale price set a new auction record for Australian muscle cars. Whilst in June 2007 another Phase III sold for A$750,000."

I think there is one like this in the Manawatu, awesome beast for sure.

bleetbleet, Jul 13, 6:27pm
1/2 mill!the sellers not the same guy that was trying to sell the camaro for 1 mill is it!very cool car but even with a big lotto win i couldn't justify that amount

flat_white_ltd, Jul 13, 6:35pm
is this the one ( model ) that got the nick "shaker" !

mopar63, Jul 13, 7:47pm
with it's heritage it's probably quite saleable, ,an ocker will probably grab with the their high dollar at the moment too

ryanm2, Jul 13, 9:12pm
the 69 mach 1's had the shaker hood set first.

ryanm2, Jul 13, 9:13pm
the muscle car bubble has well and truly burst though in aussie. However, with the current exchange rate an aussie buyer could be found i reckon.

i worked for Ford when the XY GT was introduced and it was called the Shaker because of the hood scoop, maybe it was a throw back to the 69 Mustang. Aussie tended to follow U.S.A trends.awesome car in the flesh, mean as cats piss.
