What I have learned from Motoring MB.

This is probably the most sensible corner of the TM boards - may it continue.

The worst lunatic you've ever seen on here is probably still miles better than the average feral on "parenting". I pity anyone who really needs advice about anything to do with children.

johnf_456, Jun 23, 4:16pm
reckon, what's more scary is the kids they are breeding is our future

socram, Jun 23, 4:33pm
I'm too scared to even set foot in there! But there again, as a grandparent, it is too late to ask for advice anyway.

Oh andI have learned that there is in fact a lot of good advice on herewhen you really need it, especially when trying to get to the cause of a (motoring) problem or you need pointing towards an expert in a particular area.

I have also learned that far too many posters who comment on driving standards, have little respect for the law - and probably haven't driven in any country other than NZ.

whqqsh, Jun 23, 4:36pm
I'll give it a go.

johnf_456, Jun 23, 4:37pm
Good luck you will need it

mugenb20b, Jun 23, 4:59pm
LOL! I thought you were taking the piss.

friendly_prawn, Jun 23, 5:31pm
If you want to get narked on or receive a warning or get chat banned, post regularly in motoring. There is always some nice kind friendly soul willing to oblige.

whqqsh, Jun 23, 5:48pm
everything in that is true but didnt get the reaction many predicted

gunhand, Jun 23, 5:52pm
Well lets see,
I would be very carefull taking advice off the MB as there are so many conflicting answers to a mechanical related question its scary.
Those who do know what there talking about are very good.
If you ask about a day to day type of car you are immediatly told to buy a performance version, not every one gives a rats arse about performance.
If you ask about one model in particular you may get an answer but most likely 20 others you have no interest in will be suggested.
If you can use google you can make yourself sound intelligent.
If your fuel usage meter shows 6ltr per 100km even for a nano second thats what it always does.
If you say "im not like this in real life"Your wrong.
Giving one word answers dosn't make you "cool"
Trying to be mysterious dosn't make you "cool"
Its a crime to drive the car you chose, apparently.
There are alot of sheep in NZ when it comes to certain brands being unreliable even though many people never have a days problem with said brand or model.
Your car should run on X brand fuel even though the manufacturies say something else.
Many know how to police better than the Police.
Thats being caught over a speed limit shouldnt be a crime becuase "IM" the safest driver on the road even though I cant keep to simple posted limit.
Speed dosent kill, but oddly it takes speed to kill.
If your new and post a listing you have your abused.
If your an old hand here you can post what you like.
Very few people can be proven wrong and admit it.
VTNZ are bad news.
I should never fail a warrent as "I" know better than the person doing the check.
Adding bits to your car is not moddifing it and is gay.even though its been happening for since the car has been around.
Many can design a better car than (add manufacturer) but haven't
Its ok to critise someone elses car,rod or bike but you have never made/built anything yourself.
You can get good advice once you establish who knows what there on about.
Cars are just plastic and steel in the end.
When your lack of spelling abillity is thrown back at you you know you have won.
Some people can not work out what the most simple spelling mistake means even though its obvious.
Some people will not follow logic.
Its OK to ruin someones auction because its funny.

And if you think your an idividual free thinker, well you kinda are but in the end we are all pretty much just the same as everyone else. Faults and all.

whqqsh, Jun 23, 5:59pm
I agree with most of what you say, Gunhand, except for 'If your new and post a listing you have your abused, If your an old hand here you can post what you like'.
Ive definitely experienced different & been on here longer than most (or possibly any current members)

johnf_456, Jun 23, 6:01pm
Move on, i don't . you.

I rest my case!

whqqsh, Jun 23, 7:51pm
I take that back, its working, but again all that stuff did happen

bigfatmat1, Jun 23, 8:00pm
Just like you with the toyota auction!

Lol pot kettle black aye. How many threads on a 'public' forum bout the same friggen car. How many auctions did you sabotage! Not everyone cares. In fact I've long been sick of hearing about it and I am sure I am not the only one!

johnf_456, Jun 23, 8:11pm
Your are not the only one, if he thinks he could get 20k for it then good for him. The owner is entitled to his opinion without someone coming to the message boards to make a mockery of him.

It is plain childish in my opinion and well said bigfatmat1

mantagsi, Jun 23, 8:31pm
I've learned that there are a lot of circlejerkers on motoring, but if you can get past them there are somne damned good threads to read

granada, Jun 23, 8:55pm
There are a lot of tyre kickers in here whom do nothing but stir trouble. Howevera lot of good advice is given freely from some very knowledgable members and it is appreciatiated.I agree with gunhand and have also learnt never to buy a Toyota Cavaliar

jason18, Jun 23, 9:49pm
Dont say the word p+s*y or you will get a warning

grangies, Jun 23, 9:57pm
Pesky pesky pesky.

jason18, Jun 23, 10:14pm
lols

sr2, Jun 23, 10:46pm
I think we just may need a translator for this one; does anyone here understand Johnno speak!

johnf_456, Jun 23, 10:53pm
The word was removed, have a think what it is.

Hint sr2 mentioned it on page one.

sr2, Jun 23, 10:59pm
Now I'm really confused!

johnf_456, Jun 23, 11:02pm
Have a think (:o

mugenb20b, Jun 23, 11:03pm
^^^ What's that suppose to represent!

johnf_456, Jun 23, 11:05pm
