Nissan Sentra fuel economy and engine strain?

sandy501, Jun 17, 2:26am
Needing a reliable vehicle for travelling from Hamilton to Huntly and back, 5 days a week.
Would a 1.4L Nissan Sentra end up costing more petrol wise considering the 100k roads! and would it reduce engine life with the consistant strain!

Any advice on this matter shall be greatly appreciated.

No to both questions. Keep the car serviced and you should have no problems.

Compared to what!

Thanks for the quick reply.Compared to a 1.8L or 2.0L ect as it wouldn't strain as much reaching higher speeds! or am I wrong in thinking that!

You are wrong in thinking that.A 1.4 Sentra will likely be cheaper to run by a decent chunk than many 1.8 - 2.0 cars of a similar purchase cost.

Thanks for that :)

Hot, long distance running is excellent for any car.

Think i would be wanted something safer with the drivers up there!1.8 or 2.0 ,2.2 litre would be more comfortable and not working as hard as 1.4 sentra,Honda Accord 2.2 manual!

Should get really good economy out of the GA14DS engine in manual form. Automatics will be a bit average though. It will probably sit at around 3100rpm at 100km if it has the 4.1 diff in it.

We have a speed limit of 100 kph, this doesn't constitute higher speeds, european motorway speeds of 130 plus may be a problem but not here in NZ

Used to own one for years. They do fine at 100kph. Cheap on fuel too. But if the car will be fully laden, think other wise.because then she'll struggle to even hold 85 comfortably.
