I've got a suzuki sj50qt, I can't start it cold without giving it a squirt of engine start or holding a petrol soaked rag up to the carbie. Once its been running its fine but once its been sitting for a couple of hours it won't start unaided. Have these got some sort of auto choke or something! Any help is greatly appreciated. Cheers

Could be any of a few things. Spark plug Dirt in carby Electric choke
Scooters for some reason appear to suffer badly from dirt in the carby 2 strokes do tend to chew through spark plugs on a regular basis.

The SJ50 has an electric choke - could be that the wire has come off the carb. Otherwise it will need a new choke mechanism. Would probably be easier to buy a 2nd hand carb.
I have a couple of spare carbs lying around so if you need one just let me know.
