Hi, I've got a 94 Caldina where the rear hatch is a bit tempermental.Sometimes it doesnt open using the external latch.I can pop it from the inside and drown everything with lubricant and it works ok for a while. Was wondering what could be the cause!Could it be sagging down too far from weak struts!They do hold up the hatch when open. Or is it there something else that needs adjusting!I've tried repositioning the striker!The bit that is mounted on the car . sorry for the lack of technical term for that.Any ideas out there!Cheers

recheck the unlock mechanism, either cable or steel plate, either stretched or bent ( or worn) changing the striker plate/hoop willnot fix the opening mechanism from restricted or insufficient movement you extra lube will manifest itself with easing the movement making a quicker grab, and momentum throws the unlocker just that 1/2 mm further due to the extra speed you have operated the handle
