Oh dear.look for another car. That engine is made by Mazda and it's a noisy, smelly, vibratey POS. Nothing wrong with a 1995 Escudo, but only the 4 cylinder petrols were good.

davidmoore, Jul 26, 3:10am
ok thank,s for thatmaybe a 2.0 ltr 6cyl maybe !

The V6 is just as bad as the diesel, its a Mazda engine with expensive timing chain issues.

mugenb20b, Jul 26, 4:51am
No.I said 4 cylinder engines only.

mugenb20b, Jul 26, 4:52am
The V6 that powers the Escudo is actually made by Suzuki. The V6 Mazda is belt driven, Suzi has chains.

Had a 1995 Vitara 1.6 litre, auto. Great wagon. A bit underpowered for me, (towing a tralier with over 1m2 firewood.) Otherwise very economical- probably around 8 litre to 100kms-.spent nothing on it except usual maintenance in over 40,000kms.

Suzuki were using PSA diesels at one point 1905cc XUD indestructable engines if serviced

Not in that era they weren't, it was that appalling Mazda RF back then. Every single one made should have been sent for re smelting years ago and one preserved in a Jap museum as a reminder of why you shouldn't adapt petrol engines to run diesel.Ditto the Isuzu 4JX1, for different reasons.

add the 4D56 to that list also haha. Interesting the R2 diesel still lives on in the current Mazda6 MZR-CD, is a pretty potent engine too. Just wonder how it's going to be in 10+ years time.

mugenb20b, Jul 26, 7:25pm
It's funny how you can have the old 4D56 and a new common rail 4D56, and yet, they are two very different engines.

Had a Mazda Levante with the RF diesel motor we got it at 37000kms had it untill 127000kms never had a problem with it was mainly the wifes car so was looked after and service every 5000 kms.

stay away from suzuki diesel pre 2001. these have a mazda diesel poo fitted. You can easy figure what engine it has when you take it for a drive up a hill and it is slow as hell then yo know its got a mazda diesel. later models have peogeot and renault diesel. these go as fast up hill as they go on the flat.
