Can you help! At a idle it revs up and down. If you put your ear close to the air filter you can hear a click every 2sec. Any ideas!

Dirty/faulty AAC valve, possibly

What engine does your primera have! Either way, I'm not too sure exactly where it is on the primera (someone on here will be able to tell you though). it will be around the plenum area somewhere.

If that is the cause of your problem, you won't need a new one. they can be cleaned and reused :)
