Hi, I am looking at buying a 2001 nissan bluebird sylphy with a 6 speed tiptronic trans. Can anyone tell me if this would be a CVT trans or not.

Yes. I would steer clear if the engine is the direct injected version too

smithies-Yes it is DEFINITELY a CVT tansmission and when you open the bonnet you'll find its also a NEO engine.-cam chains wear out as fast as a cam belt My advice is RUN as fast as you can. Its not all lost--If you like the car other wise you can look at the 1800cc version which has a 4 stage auto (NON cvt) and a simpler cam chain system that doesn't wear anywhere as fast
