Looking for comments on whether its true - are these unreliable POS or opposite (with good care!)
Dad is looking at one because their roomy (fit dogs etc, tools in it)
More specific the 2000 - 2004 models with the 4.0 V8.

Dont know much about them, but have heard nothing but bad things about them

i went though a phase of having them now I have a prado it twice the car at a lot less expense the land rover disco's I had where all POS they all ended up with different things going woung with them a diff blowing while driving along at 80k's of a flat straight road was the scariest.

disco 2's seem to be more reliable than the original, & just drive a little bit better, which is why they are worth so much more than a disco 1, But it still will use a above average fuel for the class.

Disco 1's seem to have tarnished the model a bit. but i know some that have given little trouble for years & years, then i know some that seem to need something fixed quite often. depends how you use them i quess.
