wrong with it! (yes i know its like asking how long is a piece of string, but give it go anyway)
its an auto dual fuel ba falcon wagon.
tried to turn it on today, at first it was ticking over but wouldn't start, until i put my foot on the gas, then it started, but also started shuddering, and as soon as i took my foot off the gas it stalled.
I started it again and revved the crap (in park) out of it, then took my foot off the gas and it stalled again.
I then tried once more, started, revved it, and put it straight into drive, and it bunny hopped forward, still shuddering. So i turned it off thats where I have left it.

so,
1 - what do you think is wrong with it
2 - price to fix if it is what you think
3 - would you attempt to drive it 50km to a garage
4 - would you go to any old garage or go to a ford dealer

(we don't have a regular garage we go to as have not been here that long)

thanks

Which fuel system and have you tried switching fuel and starting again!

40wav, Oct 20, 9:25am
Surely revving the crap out of a stone cold engine would be sufficient to fix any and all problems.surely.

What fuel are you trying to start it on! Try petrol first till it warms up, then switch to LPG.

oooooowwwwww, Oct 20, 9:25am
it runs on lpg most of the time, but apparently starts on petrol, so it should be starting on petrol then switching to lpg, but I don't think it has had a chance to switch, or may be having problems switching.
thank you i will go out and check that shortly

oooooowwwwww, Oct 20, 9:28am
well duh! haha

(it's because I'm a woman)

snoopy221, Oct 20, 9:30am
Righto- we'll juss check ya hair colour.
1.-What fuel was it stopped on.
2.-What fuel was it started on.

oooooowwwwww, Oct 20, 9:32am
haha. shouldn't have said anything.

it runs on LPG for day to day running, but it starts on petrol then automatically switches to LPG. so it was stopped on LPG, and automatically started on petrol, but I don't think it had a chance to switch to LPG, or that may be where the problem is, which would make sense.
both the petrol and LPG tanks are full

snoopy221, Oct 20, 9:36am
Classic symptoms of a blonde tryn ta be a brunette and the *inbetween* dual dye/dual fuel mucky hair colour phase.
Adds-interesting system.it starts on petrol then automatically switches to LPG. so it was stopped on LPG, and automatically started on petrol, but I don't think it had a chance to switch to LPG, or that may be where the problem is, which would make sense.

oooooowwwwww, Oct 20, 9:54am
ffs. just went out and tried turning it on, and it went perfectly. Tried switching it from LPG to petrol and everything still went fine.
oh how i hate that friggin car.

jason18, Oct 20, 7:22pm
I will take it off you

intrade, Oct 20, 8:02pm
could be running on 2 fuels at once that would make it run like crap and stall. I had a old landrover here once do that , is there a check engine light on the dash! if not i would assume it be this to be checked as first thing , and its never good to rev crap o .oa stone cold engine as posted above.

splinter67, Oct 20, 8:13pm
Hell you want another one oh well you will be getting used to fixing f words

oooooowwwwww, Oct 20, 8:53pm
haha no probs, ill just drive it there. from Australia. lol

oooooowwwwww, Oct 20, 8:54pm
but seriously, is it worth while taking it to a ford dealership garage! or will they just do the same thing as any other mechanic but cost me double the price!

intrade, Oct 20, 9:25pm
id take it to a lpg specialist .garage

gmphil, Oct 20, 9:45pm
Take it to aholden dealer in trade in lol , seriously thinku flooded it most injected cars dont like the old pumpin of the gas now u left started ok!

supernova2, Oct 20, 10:13pm
Given that injected have no accel pump as no carb what on earth will pumping the pedal do!Only way you can flood an injected car is with a fault in the injection system.

ceebee2, Oct 21, 5:52am
Wrong again.it may hydraulic if you pump it fast enough as the TPS will tell the ECU to let more fuel through the injectors.

tshop, Oct 21, 6:07am
Or the cold start injector/ time switch, mostly found on 90s Toyota's but copied by ford holden & the rah.

oooooowwwwww, Oct 21, 6:41am
ok, i am superbly confused now. but will not pump the gas if its not starting again.

jonthefisho, Oct 21, 6:46am
I would suggest you clean the throttle body

franc123, Oct 21, 8:27am
Name some examples! If any Falcons or Holdens were fitted with cold start valves it might have been back in the XE/VK era, but I don't think even those had them either. It was the Toyota/Denso EFI systems that were crude copies of genuine Bosch equipment that was fitted to Aussie stuff, not the other way around. Suggesting that a BA has a cold start valve is hilarious.

tshop, Oct 21, 7:45pm
Im refering to the electronics side of things, most vehicles have the technology, the best technology which is copied from Toyota, dim wit, know all

brokebloke1, Oct 21, 8:07pm
sounds to me you have a blown intake gasket commom on LPG fitted BA falcons just check on the ozzy ford forums lots of info on these cars as they use them a lot for taxis

chebry, Oct 21, 8:35pm
Oh of course Toyota is the world leader in induction systems NOT. Toyota licence from Bosch then copy the Japs as usual invent NOTHING
