Can a Alfa 2.0 twin spark engine be run ok without the balance shafts!

People do it for race applications the balance shafts sap quite a lot of power.
So yes you can run it without them or as I'd imagine you really want to know, without the belt. Obviously there will then be vibration at certain revs and I wouldn't like to speculate what the long term effect of such vibration might be.

My H22 runs no balance shafts, it revs faster and responds better is the main benifit. Zero power adding ability since it's turbo with power to burn. But being turbo I need all the response I can get out of it.

Cheers, yes the question was to run without the beltI have already had one belt break and was thinking it may be more reliable.
