why are they so damned expensive compared to car tyres!

economy of scale basicly.Ie there are millions of cars and only thousands of bikes (ignore the numbers its the scale that counts) so its cheaper to bulk produce tyres. AND the technology in a half decent bike tyre is only found in top level car tyres ie EXPENSIVE car tyres

yes they are. anyone that says owning a bike is a cheap and cheerful means of transport is dreaming just a little. Bikes are bloody expensive toys but i wouldn't be without one. Just remember too that you do get what you pay for. Want to play at being Vale Rossi for an afternoon then you'll nee the really dear ones and they don't last long at all. :)
