Head light covers, are really just a gimmick. 99% of cars don't have them,.

If you knew how expensive replacement lights are on AU's (Twin Headlight model) you would damn well want to get a headlight cover!

And 99% of people who get a broken light in a modern car do a backflip when they realise that a new light can cost them a whole lot more than a weeks pay.
Personally I think covers were more of a gimmick in the days of cheap and nasty sealed beam units that were not much more than $20 to replace. Although modern lamps are usually much less prone to breakage they create some unhappy looks from people who didn't select glass and light cover on their insurance.

Most modern cars have Polycarbonate headlights. Wouldn't break if you hit them with a hammer.
