The search for the so-called buried Spitfires in Burma has been called off amongst recriminations between the searchers and investors. The searchers found nothing, and there probably weren't any.

There was a small article on stuff or herald about it.kind of embarassing for them I'm sure
Was a story in the NZ Herald a day or two back. As is usual for the Herald, they don't have any reference to it in their chaotic, unreliable, online webpage.

30 odd Spitfires are buried in Burma and they're going to dig them up and restore them - Cool!
DP is a plane fanatic and has been following this for a while. One article he showed me stated they were all packed correctly so should be in good condition.

It's in a monsoon, jungle, country. They would've rotted away to nothing in the wet humid climate after 77 years. Be little left except engine parts.

But they were buried so no air or moisture - assuming no leaks in the crating/packing
