Quite like the Ssanyong workmate on price.Futon and great Wall too cheap looking to be reliable!

mugenb20b, Mar 15, 4:46am
Yeah, go for the D Max.

theram1, Mar 15, 4:48am
Ssanyong, is that the ute with a one star safety rating!.
Isuzu would be my pick out of the four.

intrade, Mar 15, 7:45am
i would try a amarok also while your at it

romajeto, Mar 15, 8:00am
I did.bit undertorqued.but comfortable and expensive

skiff1, Mar 15, 8:47am
Seriously love my ranger, and loved the last one too. Ultra reliable, plenty of boogy, and one you put good tyres on them they will climb over Gerry browlee

isuzu dmax - and Holden Colorado - whats the differences!
A manager at wor just got a new Colorado, upgraded from the old shape. Wider, and loves it! only bad thing i have heard (from a tractor servicing outfit) that changed from old rangers, is that they find them very soft in the suspension - quite a bit of body roll etc. However, they are looking at Over-riders, or other suspension stiffening options for the rear.
I would have thought it was just individual "vehicle characteristics"!

intrade, Mar 16, 5:04am
yea price is a problem torque is no issue you can chiptune them easy for more low down torque but good you tryed it i would try em all even the mistsubishi just so you done em all.

Carefull intrade. You just reccomended test driving a mitsi. :p

blurple1, Mar 16, 6:16am

skiff1, Mar 16, 6:18am
personally I really disliked the new auto.

romajeto, Mar 18, 3:25am
D-max runs an Isuzu motor instead of a GM and the LS model is a lot higher specced. They look sharper in the body design as well.

hpaul, Mar 18, 4:22am
Amarok has more torque than D-Max, is better in every respect than D-Max and is on a sales promotion so cheaper than D-Max

Amorak is 400nm compated to the d-max's 380nm. It is also currentlycheaper.

theram1, Mar 18, 5:21am
The Isuzu has a wider torque band 380Nm @ 1800-3000rpm
Compared to the VW's 400 Nm @ 1500??

mugenb20b, Mar 18, 5:39am
I've driven both and I'm much more impressed with a D Max tbh.

I found that the Amarok engine is fussy on which brand of fuel it uses, runs best on 'Z' fuel, it's stronger, quieter and pulls hard through to 4300rpm and returns 7.5lts/100km

It also surprises me when loaded that the weight doesn't seem to affect it. Putone ton on it and it shrugs it off.

The Ranger should be even better with a big load.

Is the D-Max 5 or 6 speed!

romajeto, Mar 18, 6:20pm
And This.

romajeto, Mar 18, 6:23pm
$59990 on Special for Amorak save $7000.Yay but D-max Recommended retail Top of the range Limited Edition= $61990.Very highly specced LS on current special.$49990.

mugenb20b, Mar 18, 6:24pm
D Max is 5 speed, but has good torque no matter where the rev counter sits or what gear you're in. It's very quiet for a commercial vehicle, no road noise, nice interior, and is suprisingly comfortable. Fuel usage is the same as Amarok's.

hpaul, Mar 18, 8:18pm
That price is for the 8 speed auto Amarok. The six speed manual twin turbo Highline is $54,990.

I tried them all before buying, the D-Max just wasn't in the same league as far as quality was concerned and after 20,000kms I'm really pleased I bought the Amarok, it feels like such a quality product.

I think if the Isuzu was priced at say $39,900 I'd have considered it more seriously because it felt like that should be its price point.

Ultimately you should buy the one you like.

Good luck.

Hi Line is 2wd isn't it!

marblicious, Mar 20, 5:32pm
Have you got a link to those deals!

romajeto, Mar 20, 5:50pm
Right.Ranger Hi Line is 2wd.Went and had a look at another Amorak. Not my cup of tea.pretty plain to look at.bulky.drives really well tho.And overpriced to hell and gone. Can't get my head around the 2litre motor in such a big vehicle either.those twin turbos must do some serious work.

All the comparison reviews I have sen have the d-max last or close to it. Ranger or amorak fight for first.
