Motorhome/RV people - your help?

Hi

I've just brought a horse truck that has a tv attached to the wall (Vivo) with no satellite nor DVD player - few questions! Do you think a normal dvd player can be used in a vechile? Or do I need to be looking at an RV specialist one? How difficult is it to attach a satellite and the cheaper ones on TM, are they suitable? Many thanks!

Are you intending to run the equipment on 12 volt, 24 volt or 240 volt? Will you have access to a mains connection or will you be freedom parking.
Satellite equipment is easy enough to work, the auto gear while expensive is a real doodle to use.

I bought a TV/DVDs/satellite set up on trademe, runs 12 v.
Gets better reception than my home TV, was about $500.
Awesome, highly recommend one of those.

i have a 12 volt sat tuner here a guy sells them for sat its the size of a cigarett box . with remote for like 40$ you will have to cut the wires and figure corectly what one is plus and what minus but you can hook that to a 12 volt . he also sells whole systems i dont know if it suits , but if you know what you are doing you will set up sat reception in like 5 minutes just having antenna in the grass camping.
thats what i have done in my house in taumarunui antenna in grass and a piece of wood on the base to stop it blowing over while i whatch tv.

You can run a standard DVD from your 12v supply via an inverter.
I have had zero success with cheap satellite/TV's/ Sat recievers off trade me.
Some are fine in a static situation like intrade has done but once you start moving to marginal reception areas and bouncing them around the roads they fail to perform.
I would think it's quite difficult to attach a satellite due to their cost, but attaching a satellite receiving dish is not overly difficult, two holes, one for winding mechanism, one for cable and making sure it is level if vehicle roof is sloping and most importantly, it is watertight.
