Thanks.I looked up the specs on the massey 135 but it didn't show it. I've just been talking to a massey mechanic and he has recommended the same. Cheers

LOL pretty much any std non synthetic diesel oil will be fine in the old Fergy.

Gulf western 20w40 top dog oil would be fine in it .

When to change depends on a combo of total hours running & type of running.

Short duration low revs
Long or short duration work loads.
Heavy loads.
No loads.
Dusty (hay making/ road repair work etc).

The worse the environment = shorter duration oil/ filter changes

This the shite I use - run it in motorbike - terrano

Use to run Valvoline - till found out they flog repsol oil - rather go with a crowd that backs their own product

What about synthetic or semi synthetic oils?

mals69, Jan 6, 5:33am
Change the black stuff often as possible main thing, as
Mobil oil technician said to me the carbon in the oil resulting
from combustion process acts on parts bit like how a diamond
carbon tool acts on metal .

mals69, Jan 6, 5:39am
Synthetics come into their own if you seldom use the vehicle with
the makeup's ability to cling onto metal. Semi synthetics bit of a misnomer, have to have high ester which is seldom offered
by oil suppliers.

Some vehicles better suited to mineral .

Perkins engine oil changes when used in MF tractors was change after 1st 50hrs from new or rebuild then every 200 hrs I have seen these engines do over 10 000 hrs in tractors that were used in kiwi fruit orchards and driving effluent pumps on dairy farms running 14 hrs a day. These engines were protected for low water level, low oil pressure and over heat shut down systems .
