What modern car would you recommend for around 8k

Agreed. Ravi just buy a corolla, focus, or golf. They have five doors, safety gear, are economical and reliable. It's what you get when you don't know what you want.

Fuel economy,comfort,ease of maintainence,handling,safety features,ease of parking etc?
What is the intended purpose of the car, mostly commuting,mostly long distance driving,dooing the school run etc?
Do you like bigger or smaller vehicles.?
