That notch in the bottom looks for all the world like a place to insert a screwdriver to lever it off. But I bet it isn't.

They are a snap fit unit troggie, you insert a slim screw driver into the hole on the drivers side of the lens and you spring it out of it's holder/retainer. Bulb inside is a cap less type from memory? You will most likely find a you tube instruction online, most things are online these days mate. cheers.
I'd have to use a French gros marteau to do le job.

That's OK troggie, think you've got to think French to deal with some of the quirkiness. Saves the expense of a couple of screws I suppose?

I got the wof. The mechanic said as above re flicking the lens off. Why didn't he tell me in the first place! Grr. On a brighter note - a one year wof. Never had one of them before. How to remember?

Can't be too hard on your spannerman there trog. at least he showed common sense and didn't send you away without the wof for such a minor fault. some would make you come all the way back for a recheck.
