Nissan Murano 4wd 2004 Towing?

Can anyone tell me what these vehicles are like for towing? Horse float to be specific. Gutless or good?

While you can allegedly tow with that CVT I don't think it's a great idea

Have just done some "internet research" on CVT and they don't sound suitable for towing at all.

If you drew up a list of vehicles to Tow 2000kg,a Murano would be at the bottom of the list

Not sounding good. In simple terms can anyone explain why it is so bad please?

a quick google shows braked tow rating of the murano is 1500kg. so not suitable for towing a horse float. (a horse float is about 1000kg empty)

CVT is totally different style of auto using steel bands moving up and down cones to change ratio constantly. No gears as one expects in a gearbox. In principle it maybe could be built to withstand towing lots, in practice it seems Nissan ones aren't. And they cost lots to replace.
Murano is very much a cross over not an SUV with towing capacity and strength.
Plus they are mostly petrol models here and really diesel is better for towing.
