I know we've done this before but currently the Toyota Isis has to top the list of unfortunate car names.

nzdoug, Feb 8, 8:09am
You would think thatToyota would have that name on the F70 Land Cruiser, as that is the best platform for armaments in civilian class vehicles.
Also, they look sharp in camo.

I think the Isis name for the vehicle came from that of an ancient Egyptian goddess. It is also the name of the Thames where it flows through Oxford.

I agree, though. it is unfortunate for the Toyota model. Unfortunate, too, that it has become in the English speaking worldthe name for a brutal terrorist organisation.

Isis was the ancient Egyptians' godess of health, marriage and wisdom wasn't she?

You could name a car after something much sillier than that - some old fella named Cedric for instance?

trogedon, Feb 8, 9:09am
Good thing that the terrorist organisation in Syria etc isn't call ISIS then (IS or ISIL yes).

poppajn, Feb 8, 6:28pm
Morris had a model called Isis, an unfortunate car.

I find it amusing how cars named after important forms in classical music, almost never live up to their name.

Hyundai Sonata
Honda Concerto
Austin Allegro
Honda Prelude
Nissan Fuga
Etc
