Transport 5m boat Auck to Wgtn

Husband just bought a boat, is flying up to Auckland, we know stuff all about options for transporting boat back apart from hiring a large vehicle. Anyone got any knowledge of ways to do this. Anyone familiar with using a boat transporter and rough costs. With hiring a one way large vehicle there is a one way hire charge and minimum of 3 day hire. Thanks.

What about sailing or motoring in it back to Wellington?

5m boat is pretty small. Could easily tow it with a medium car. A cheeky buggar (me) would tow it with a small car.

begs the question, is it on the dry or is it moored, and what is the estimated weight

I've seen a 5 mt concrete jobbie you would not want on your foot, or your trailer

Glad its a small boat, he was looking at much bigger. We will use our runabout 6 cylinder car for it to go to the beach as it is close by but not for a trip to Auckland and back. Great if a 6 cylinder car hire can do the job then.

I have often loaded whole cars onto my tandem trailer and hauled them from the Hutt valley to Waverley behind my 2lt 4 cyl mitsi
I'm sure your 6 cyl will handle the trip

Is it trailerised, or not. If trailerised, then tow it, or look at transporters like Jeffs, they'll put it on their truck and drive it down. If not, look at transport companies with Hiabs, there's plenty around, probably best to look around Wellington and try to get it backloaded, will be a bit cheaper that way.

Hire a ute, they usually have tow bars
