Suzuki Swift, burning smell

roseandsam, Dec 16, 3:13pm
Unsure of what is causing this, not brakes as has just had WOF and service done. Smells kind of like burning rubber or plastic, I have looked under bonnet and cannot see anything untoward. It starts smelling quite soon after the car has been going, approx 3 minutes. Can smell the burning smell outside of car quite strongly. Any thoughts?

Get the car on a vehicle hoist and lift it up high --Most likely cause is a plastic bag has stuck to the exhaust.Or one of the underneath covers has been dislodged and is pressing against the exhaust.

Im with Kaz but did the smell start as soon as the service was done? If it did then maybe straight back to service provider for them to check in case something touching that shouldn't be.

only thing getting hot is the exhaust in 3 minutes so that needs to be inspected befor its on fire.

Oil leaking onto manifold/exhaust?

Thanks for replies, going to get checked out on Friday. Person at Midas thought it sounded like a plastic bag burnt onto exhaust and would have to be scrapped off.
