What happens if someone get stopped and the WOF/Rego has elapsed?
I know of someone driving around without either and to make things worse, the Rego is a few days out of being a full year expired.
Huge liability if they hurt someone.

You get a fine, and demerits for the rego (not the WoF).
If the vehicle is in bad nick you might get stickered, either Pink (can not be driven at all on the road until repaired and inspected) or Green (generally can be driven for WoF purposes).

$300 now for no vehicle license and wof together. Used to be $400.
Vehicle license out of date ticket can still be $200 on it's own as far as I am aware and that is obscene. Imagine if IRD charged 1000% or so for tax being a month or two late. Heads would roll.

Isn’t that what IRD do?
