I note also that before Caltex were taken over by Z, they were significantly cheaper than the other local stations, now they are not. As with anything else, I think that whether in and around Auckland or not, if it really matters, you have to shop around and use the other discounts available.

I stuck with BP 98 for the GT as there was no other 98 around at the time and I couldn't afford race gas for every tank for road use.

Up here in the Far North the best you can get is 95.

I think you're spot on Kaz.The big moan from wellington and points south has been there is no Gull so no genuine competition.Going from Pukekohe into Papatoetoe the prices start dropping from Papakura onwards. Z or Shell used to be the first to put prices down when it was Shell but now they,re the first to put prices up and the last to put them down except where there is a Gull close by when they match Gull. Like Air NZ its a cynical appeal to Patriotism in their ads.
