Just for clarification , have you been headlight flashed for doing 80 ( which is actually a true 75 on most cars ) or have you been flashed for hogging the right hand lane and failing to keep left unless passing In most European a quick flash of the headlights from behind is a polite method to remind the other driver to move left and allow faster traffic through . In NZ it seems to be taken as a declaration of War . particularly by right hand lane hoggers

No lane changing in the tunnel . haven't driven it, but imagine that at peaks there probably isn't a lot of options on lane changing prior to the tunnel either.

That’s a inconsistent rule . no ban on lane changing in the northbound lanes of the terrace tunnel here in Wellwood . surely a tunnels a tunnel so the rules should be consistent

Absolutely. But the 80km electronic signs don’t stop/start at the exit and entry the signs are visible for at least two km before and after. People just don’t seem to register. Ping!

Well, like I said I have been both ways hundreds of times. Never been a problem for me. But I have been passed by plenty of taxis speeding to the airport and tradies in vans speeding towards west Auckland. Plenty of large, clear electronic signage so Serves em right IMO.

Just for clarification if then most cars doing an indicated 80km/h is a true 75 in most cars then I am saying if they are doing a true 80km/h(exceeding the limit0 they'd be indicating 85plus km/h and be oblivious of the fact they are over the speed limit. I venture to say lots that get pinged would no doub't be indicating 90km/h or even more. Then if they are indicating say 90-100km/h on an 80 km zone I'd say most would be aware of the speed they are doing . if not they are "Numpty's" IMO. and it bloody well serves them right if they do get pinged. and I wont change my stance on that matter no matter what you witter or argue on about with no substance.

Go go snoops . it would be paid for in very short time eh, that's if the revenue from fines ever gets channeled in that direction? Again it would serve then right whoever gets pinged there too if it ever came to pass. can't see it. Would a major upgrade and more direct route by straightening the Paihiatua Track route be an option. if not.what other options would be viable through that neck of the woods?
