You've explained perfectly how you have got a powerful vehicle which is very suitable for towing that light caravan.

Depends on the weight of the caravan (all up and also the tow ball down force load).

Are you sure about the car?

You are going to have to decide what size and weight of van you want first before selecting a tow vehicle!

We have a Kia Sorento 2.2 diesel we bought to tow a uk caravan, it's great

Perfectly adequate tow vehicle for 90% of caravans, I had a Kia Sorrento 2.5 (basically same vehicle) and regularly towed 3.2tonne no trouble.

Depends on your definition of no trouble I guess. certainly not enough power and torque to comfortably tow that sort of weight and have any usable spare grunt.
Secondly that model Sorento could hardly be more different to the model it replaced (which shares the platform with the Hyundai). The old model you are referring to had a full ladder frame hence the high tow rating the new model is a monocoque chassis which is less suited to heavy hauling. The similarities between your Sorento and the new version end with the name.
