It’s happening sooner than we thought! Ford’s lightning is going head to head with its ICE stablemates and with Ford rolling out it’s own fast charger network.

Problem is none of that is being built in RHD for some time yet.

franc123, Jun 15, 10:34am
Yawn that won't be coming here. Mind you if Jacinda smiles nicely we might get it. one day.

houseofdad, Jun 15, 11:20am
Going to be lots of mechanics in the dole que.

tamarillo, Jun 15, 11:27am
true but that’s not the point. It’s a trend that we get advantage of in future

absolute_detail, Jun 15, 11:38am
Why would that be?

tygertung, Jun 15, 11:40am
Not really, it is pretty easy to retrain in another trade.

franc123, Jun 15, 11:43am
Lol No. It still has all the other bits a motor vehicle requires to function. Do you know how many cockups motor manufacturers make that require recalls these days? It ain't going to get any better. Theres much more people leaving the vehicle repair trades than entering.

kiwilandchch, Jun 19, 12:20pm
they are so over priced im shore they have enough to retire early

houseofdad, Jun 20, 12:02pm
I think you need to go to Specsavers for your short sightedness lollol.
There obviously won't be the demand as not as many mechanical parts that need maintaining or repairing on an EV. Auto electricians will have way more input too over a mechanic than before. As I said will result in more mechanics lining up to get the dole until they can find something else to do.

houseofdad, Jun 20, 12:04pm
I don't consider mechanics overpriced given their skillset, overheads, lawyers yes.

absolute_detail, Jun 20, 4:51pm
So funny all you ev dreamers that think they are going to be reliable, look how much shit goes wrong on cars that doesnt have anything to do with the engine itself. They still have a transmission system, drive shafts with cv joints, suspension, brakes, cooling system, and all the other shite they pack into modern cars. They are extremely heavy for their size so they are going to be hard on driveline components

casper35, Jun 20, 6:14pm
There will always be heaps of jobs for mechanics as there are 3 million plus cars on the road that will need repairs as most of us wont be able to afford or even want to buy a EV.

sr2, Jun 20, 7:05pm
LOL; with US petrol prices at NZ 79 cents a liter the confidence in which you predict the US transition from internal combustion to electric is nothing short of awe inspiring.

sr2, Jun 20, 7:09pm
Edited to point out the F150 is made in the US for the Us market (last year US sales were 787,372) .

loud_37, Jun 20, 7:36pm
Not a lot goes wrong with a modern ICE so if you take that out of the equation an ICE vehicle and EV have all the same bits that could go wrong. etc. steering, brakes, ball joints, bushes, electrics.

houseofdad, Jun 20, 7:58pm
What's funny from my vantage point is how little you know about EVs, you are the true dreamer. School up because you're way out of your depth.
.
Absolute detail lmfao you hold true to stay well clear of someone who has a self accolade.

houseofdad, Jun 20, 8:05pm
Like fuel price is the only reason somebody chooses an electric car. As I said go to Specsavers because your short sightedness is a problem to all concerned.

houseofdad, Jun 20, 8:08pm
Yes true but where with an EV are the cambelt changes ? Oil changers ? Spark plug changes ? Tappet adjustment etc etc etc ?

sr2, Jun 20, 8:12pm
johnf_456, is that you?

absolute_detail, Jun 20, 8:26pm
Someones drunk all the ev koolaid havent they, funny how putting an electric motor in a car all of sudden makes it 100% reliable

houseofdad, Jun 21, 8:36am
No but my middle name is John.

houseofdad, Jun 21, 8:41am
You look to have come out of your mother's womb with poor genes for intelligence.

Now you are saying that we have stated that EV's are 100% reliable. They are your words! Stop trying to shift the goal posts.

franc123, Jun 21, 8:49am
Tick. In fact right now theres more vacancies than ever before. But you won't ever convince one severely low IQ poster in this thread who simply doesn't have a ceiling on self embarrassment.

skull, Jun 21, 10:17am
Ahhhh, those were the days!
