My motorhome is due a wof. It is licensed for four passengers but I’ve removed one seat for storage space. Do I need to refit that seat to comply?

Possibly. We had to on a chariot as they couldn't test the seat belt even though no seat. Really depends how pedantic the inspector is.

if it is on a wof its unlikely a motorhome. motorhome is more then 3500kg and can not get wof needs cof = way more nightmare in every aspect then a wof

Bollocks. A motorhome can weigh under 3500kg and still be classed a motorhome. She said she needs a wof, so the likely conclusion to draw is that it's under 3.5T.

Rubbish yet again ! Most of the smaller ones are under 32500kg and require just WOF's
i see interesting i wonder how long before they start pulling the 3.5 ton ones up on checking its not over as my normal van as campers is close to 3.5 ton I have been looking for years to find vans of this size and only stuff from 1990s was under 3.5 ton with ones i found was a old ldv and the newest a transit import from uk. with bridge on back. From above 5 people and luggage they better only have 1 toothbrush as luggage . Total user payload: 642kg also just to make a pointless point i said unlikely thats not a claim. but rentals are all COF by law as far as i am awear. interesting that they list 3.5 T ones however .

They made a 'note' on the WOF check sheet that the rrear seat(s) had been removed on our Jeep Wrangler.

A strange thing imo, is motorhomes up to 6 ton can be driven on a car license, yet everything else over 3.5t needs a heavy trade.(think it was introduced so tourists would be able to drive larger size rental motorhomes), so that must mean 5.99 ton motorhomes are safer if they hit anything else, than a joe average 3.51 ton truck/van etc, in some rule making idiots eyes.(means my 6 ton label COF hino house bus, can be driven by almost anyone basically).

Its possibly to drive a 18,000kg wheel tractor on a class 1 licence.

CoFs on private (ie non rental) motorhomes 3500-6000kg are just an unnecessary load of faeces when a clsss 1 driver can legally operate up to 6000kg of tow vehicle and caravan that are both subject to WoF FFS, and arguably require more skill to drive.

Cof is required for all rental cars regardless of size

or 25000 tractor+trailer(s) combination

Aren't there speed restrictions? 30k without looking it up?

No it;s 40k

25 tonne doing 40kmh can still make one big mess.

Think you need a transport licence for a truck over 4 ton = H I know you can drive a up to 3.5 ton (?) on a car licence but the minute you load it, the weight puts you on a HT licence which means with a load and towing a excavator = 3.5 ton on a trailer puts you up around 9 or more ton.
gpg58,

Found - If you are on a learner or restricted license (class 1) you can tow a trailer, but the combined weight of the vehicle, trailer and load must not exceed 4500kg. When you get your full license the combined weight can be up to 6000kg. So seems pretty stupid imo, that you can not drive a 6 ton truck as well, seems unlikely to be more dangerous than a 2.5t -loaded ute, towing a 3.5t trailer. https://www.drivingtests.co.nz/resources/towing-a-trailer-the-complete-guide-in-new-zealand/

Thats exactly my point above.

wof should be up to 6 tons also realistically . but hey finding realistic or common sense is like finding a needle in a hay stack.

NOT so - many MH's are 3500 kg GVM

you can drive any vehicle up to 6 ton on a full class 1 license.
