FG Falcon ute. The stereo crackles at full noise 60% of the time. It does not matter if the stereo is on or not. The music does not change sound Just the crackle. There is no rhythm or rhyme to it. Stopped at lights, moving, turning, bumps etc. One day the stereo would not get a signal but thats ok now. F-ing Christine is trying to kill me with sound. Funny at the lights tho, I get the wtf looks.

is it only doing with engine on? if so you have failed diodes in alternator AC Ripple

Yes only when the car is on and yes even when the stereo is off. It does have built in hands free and would have no idea where the mic is.
Hey Intrade Ill have a google about the diodes. I do have memory of old triumphs doing something similar with radio interference. In this case its happening with cd's and if the stereo if off but car running. Thanks for the direction.

modern cars stereos is on all the time if its found in the factory level scantool as module. they are used for door chime and other noise related items https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvXFpzfh0Ik
