sounds like you dont get power to your starter motor silanoid,

intrade, Apr 4, 1:11pm
do you have a testight to check fuses like the ecu one ,

Age and mileage and worn starter motor brushes.
Sometimes having an assistant to tap the starter motor with the wooden end of a hammer handle while the key is turned to crank the engine may well have the worn brushes contact sufficient to allow a brrrm brrrm.
However a good auto electrician should be able to overhaul the said same starter motor and yon Toyota will be happy again and start . Okies

no. Have pulled all the fuses and there good. Will check out wireing to solenoid after work tomorrow as I've run out of light tonight.

As stated before have someone hold the key in start position, while the starter is tapped with a hammer or if access is hard tap the starter with the end of a pipe or similar, if the starter roars to life then either replace or repair starter

intrade will put you on the right track for a new torch

Think this through.
If the car has a new battery and everything else is working there has to be an issue physically between turning the key and the starter motor doing its thing.
So faulty ignition switch ,Faulty wiring or faulty starter motor.
USUALLY a good indication is if you can hear a "CLICK" noise when you turn the key. That click would indicate power is getting to the starter.
A dimming of the dash lights would indicate the starter trying to do its job but is worn out.
if it does nothing at all it would then suggest a wiring/ignition barrel issue.
Possibly a bit beyond your knowledge level. if the first test give nothing happening then I would use a jumper lead to feed power directly to the starter motor -WITH THE IGNITION TURNED OFF.--if the car engine turns over you know its low wattage wire or ignition switch faulty.
My guess though would be starter motor is worn out.

Jiggle the gear lever--if its an Auto could be the inhibitor switch which stops starter when car is in a gear.Put car into gear and Rock it back and forward starter could be jammed. Go on Kazbanz,s advice

gosh darn it I hate feeling fuzzy minded.--I stand by my original post but YEA definitely inhibitor could be it if you aren't hearing a click -add that to the list of possibilities
