Back in 2008 they had to be converted.
Was required to be done by by professional Co's, so it wouldn't have been a one-off.

Saw a 69 Mustang about 1980 where the steering was done with a couple of sprockets and bike chain! It came from Ozz and was converted there.

Sounds like its just a bit more expensive, but still cheaper than Russian new cars.

Russia is ranked 25th out of 38. Its not that bad.
