We went in year one. Inquired through the official channels a few days before and was told sealed (non alcoholic) drinks were fine, as well as non commercial food (ie my fruit and sammies). Rocked up on the day and they tried to take it all, told us there was no food or drink to go in. I kicked up such a stink at the gate, holding up a queue of a couple hundred people they eventually caved. Shouldn't have had to do it though.

You can get a pass out to the shops in the center of the track and buy a decent feed at the regular shops.
