Almost guarantee you have a blown "illumination" fuse.

My 2002 gtb dash did the same thing (bastard at night with no dash) I just replaced the whole dash with a 2nd hand one, my one flicked on and off a few times prior then lost some of the lights then them all over a couple of months.

Hi guys, have an 02 subaru Legacy sedan. A recent problem I've had is the dash/console doesn't dim and the gauges don't light up at all when the headlights are turned on. Headlights are working fine. As you can imagine, not being able to see the speedo can get pretty dangerous. Any ideas where to start before I take it to an auto sparky? Cheers
Do the tail lights work? Have you fitted a new stereo recently?

Haven't changed the radio but have hooked up an amp to the head unit to run a new sub
